The rapid expansion of digital technologies, social media and Artificial Intelligence has transformed how information is created, accessed, shared and consumed — alongside challenges of misinformation, information overload, bias, privacy and ethics. The ability to critically evaluate information and use technology responsibly is now an essential competency.
NEP 2020 emphasises critical thinking, digital literacy and ethical reasoning. School libraries serve as centres for information, media, digital and AI literacy — empowering students to become informed, discerning and responsible users and creators of information, to assess credibility and recognise bias, and to engage with AI ethically and critically.
