Under NEP 2020 they are expected to foster engagement, support curriculum implementation and enhance access to knowledge — requiring innovative services, effective leadership, sound governance and strategic management.
Contemporary libraries adopt gamification, makerspaces, storytelling, reading campaigns and student‑led initiatives to become vibrant learning hubs. Robust policy frameworks, quality standards, professional competencies and systematic assessment are critical to enhancing the effectiveness and visibility of school libraries.
