School libraries create rich literacy environments, provide access to diverse reading materials, and foster a culture of reading beyond the classroom.
Through structured reading programmes, storytelling, reading clubs, book talks and reader advisory services, libraries cultivate reading habits and help learners become confident, independent readers. In a multilingual country like India, libraries also support language development for first‑generation and disadvantaged learners. Increasingly, evidence‑based practice, learning analytics and action research help demonstrate library impact on learning outcomes.
